    What a beautiful car.

And for anyone having historical interest, a little research shows it to have originally been the Gary Rubio car before my late friend and temporary roommate Scott Overbey drove it.

Thank you, it's been a fun project to work on and a great car to drive.

I didn't buy this car looking for any historically significant lineage; I just thought it had good bones. I wish it was the Rubio/Overbey car, but I don't think it is. although the chassis tag number is 5-540 I have no history of those drivers in this car. The roll bar is stamped with a San Francisco region number 33-3973 and all of the past owners are or were on the west coast. There is a Gentleman in Australia That does have the Rubio/Overbey car same chassis number 5-540. so, it's a bit of a mystery at this point.

Chris Townsend is I’m sure who you mean. That’s where I saw that, and ORC is so reliable I worry about Allen ever sleeping. (kidding)

Does the logbook not go back that far, or if it does, Rubio and Scott are missing?

Or do you think the tag isn’t from that car?

Is it possible it wouldn’t have gotten a Region stamp until leaving the Pro circuit?

Very curious as Scott was a great friend.

Yes, I have been in contact with Chris Townsend, I do have the original fuel cell and need to get him the ID number off it. That may hold the answer???

The only logbook I received with the car was a CSRG logbook. The list of previous owners was on the original add for the car at the beginning of the first post. since it had a SFR SCCA number stamped on the roll bar, I had some information on the car that matched the previous owners list. ???? I did get a new SCCA logbook along with an annual issued for the car.

The tag looks legit but who knows.

I’ve seen a few RT tags, it’d be interesting if you’d post a pic of yours.

(or I can show you a pic of one via email, a friend just bought a Ralt)

This is a beautiful and very well presented car which will make any new owners very happy.

The chassis number has been discussed elsewhere and it may very well be possible that this is a later (1986 or 87) Rubio car.
There is some investigation happening at present to solve the chassis tag puzzle however, the original 1985 Rubio car - chassis 5-540 - has been verified and resides in Australia.

I posted up a number of questions and added some restoration photos in previous threads here on apex while the car was in my ownership.
    Cheers

    Default Maybe?

I'm 6-2 190 with long legs and wide shoulders. I make a late model VD work but you know the deal. Would I reasonably fit?

I am 5'-11" and 200lbs. with wide shoulders. I use a bead seat insert and fit fine, no problem passing the broom stick test. The forward-facing roll bar braces take some getting used to but I'm fine with them now.

    Thanks for looking
