    Default Fuel cell foam

The foam in my Anson was powdered junk. I got a 40 year old "new" set. Unfortunately, it's solid but flaking too. Looks as though I'll be creating a new set. What is the best way to cut and shape the new stuff?

Here's what I used in the past.

I use my bandsaw at high speed, then blow it out with air. I also find that sometimes fuel cell foam sits on warehouse shelves for years before we install it. So its not a bad idea to use a (very) low concentration of dish soap and warm water to wash all the dust and stuff out of it, then put it in the sunshine to dry before you install it.

That looks like a good deal. What do you use if you need to trim or cut it? I see a hot knife for styrofoam but not sure if will work with this stuff.

Anything sharp will cut it. I typically use a serrated bread knife. (And then sneak it back in the kitchen)

And make sure to clean the cell of all the old powdered foam. It is darn hard to get it all out. I have refoamed 5 cells in my time and despite my best efforts never was able to get all the old stuff out.
What I end up doing is getting 2 cleanable fuel filters, plumbing them in parallel and checking / cleaning them every session until I go a while with NOTHING in them.

Just what I learned the hard way
