    Default BIG 12-Point Nut with captured washer

    Gents;

    West Coast Fabrication used to provide these mid-year VD front stub axle nuts with retained washers. Apparently no longer. Any sources would be greatly appreciated.

    ARP makes these or at least used to. I have used them for years on all sorts of formula cars. Bought a bunch when I was restoring my 78B and am now out. If you find them please post

    Default Part Number for this nut

    I looked in an old, treasured Coast Fabrication print catalog (2009) and found what appears to be this nut --

    7/8 - 14 UNF 12-point Nut-washer assembly = Part No. KFN542-14 (the "14" in P/N is for 14/16" = 7/8' bolt diameter, coincidentally the same as the thread pitch).

    Doing an internet search for the P/N, I find several possible suppliers. All seem to require a request for a quote.

    Here is one URL --

    https://aerospace-supplies.com/nuts-...-nut/kfn542-14

    Others -- https://jet-tek.com/k-fast/kfn542/
    https://aerobasegroup.com/part-numbe...14_01-221-7019
    https://aerospace-hardware.parts/nut...-nut/kfn542-14
    A different P/N that looks the same -- https://catalog.howmetfasteners.com/...-ksi/vn465a144

    PS -- The following URL will get you to a company that apparently absorbed Coast Fabrication (don't know when & this specific nut is not in their website) --

    https://www.clarendonsf.com/

    Post up whatever you find out please!!

    I looked @ their online catalog & they didn't have one as large as what Rick wants (7/8-14 UNF). I think they maxed out at 1/2 or 5/8 bolt diameter. It might be worth contacting them to see if they can get them, just not in their catalog.

    PS- Rick, thanks for the compliment! And don't forget to post up any of your findings about a source for these.

    If you don't have to have the captive washer there are some NAS1805-14L on Ebay.

    Gents;

    From Clarendon;
    • 12 point Jet nut
    • 1"
    • 12 TPI
    • RHT
    • Captured washer
    • PN: KFN 542-1612

    These were unique to the RF-96. Does ANYONE have a spare I can buy, beg, borrow or steal?

    In title. H C Pacific, huge outfit so small purchase might not work. Last time I bought from them was 2009.
