    Default Lime Rock Open Test

I am thinking about doing a Tuesday afternoon Open Test at Lime Rock Park. There are not very many per year, are they crowded?

Is there anything out or the ordinary to be aware of?

    Thanks
    Brian

It was last Tuesday and it was freaking cold.

I don't think there's another until September prior to the Fall Festival.

There is a June 6th date that you can register for at this time. Oddly it is not listed on ther general 2023 calendar.

Have you done one of these Tues tests before? How are they?

I've done them on and off for 37 years.
    Usually 3 groups:
    Open wheel and sportsracers.
    Small bore closed wheel
    Big bore closed wheel
    20 minute sessions
Not a very big turnout anymore. 30-40 cars
    Total.
One car gets destroyed every time. lol.

    Default June 6

i just registered for the June 6 Tests day so I guess it exists. The Lime Rock calendar on their site is not complete. Does not even show the SCCA race on June 16-17

At $327 for 4 hours (1 pm to 5 pm) not cheap, but less then towing down to NJ for the test day on May 26.

    Default Turn out

Not a big turn out. I was a one of each for the open wheel group. 1 FV, 1 FF, 1 FC, 1 FA, 1 SFR and a P1. I guess if they actually put it on the schedule on their web site more people would know about it.

Oh and it never rained at Lime Rock all day.

To be precise:: there were five 20 min sessions per group.

    Canadian fire smoke was interesting.

While we dd not destroy the car, the rear body work was damaged backing into a tire wall.

Definitely one of the fastest 'big boy' tracks in the country.

Some are going to Pittsburgh for the 60th, most of us are over budget already.

one test day equals the total of all the race entry fee hikes for 2023.

I am doing laps in the simulator (iRacing)

The hardest part was driving flat out in 5th to the first Apex of Big Bend.

Default Using the way back machine here......

......I once had a hellacious spin at that last bend, ending up way out in the outfield near some lumpy ground, in my new-to-me RF 93 at a National. I remember Dave Dexter laughing at me (sigh....) when I finally got back to the paddock. Good times....

I also recall a car ending up further afield than me at that corner (not during the same incident) that ended up in a small shallow creek. Yellow DB1 maybe????? I *think* I remember it - this aging thing isn't helping....

    best,
    bt
