    Default Identifying a trailer bed part and where can I get one

    Hey there, ApexSpeed gang,

    I have a 16-foot TNT flatbed utility trailer, on which I haul my FF. On a recent trip to help my son relocate to Arizona, one of these pieces onto which my trailer ramps clip to facilitate loading and unloading the race car came off the trailer. I’m not real familiar with trailer nomenclature so I don’t know what this clip is called - if it even has a specific name. So I’m putting this out there for input from those of you who have been trailering a lot longer than me. Perhaps you can give me a clue what this piece is called and where I might find one. I dodged a bullet losing the piece when the trailer was not in use for the race car. Don’t know how I would have got the car off the trailer otherwise. Thanks!

    Michael,

    I think it's just a piece of angle iron with a 1/4" piece of steel welded on as a tab. If we can get the steel I can make it. Get dimensions from the remaining one and make me a sketch.

    That's called "a foot of angle iron and a welder"

    I'd bet most any mobile welder can come to you and make one on the spot. If you call one, send him a picture.

    If you have a welder coming over, consider relocating those brackets;
    weld them to the frame rather than screwing them into the end of the wood (which rots out over time, leading to your initial issue)
