Default Rubber versus Steel Brake Lines

Was curious on some opinions. Bought a top winning USF2000 DP08 from a championship winning team and noticed
that they used black rubber coated (I think) brake lines. All of my karts had steel braided brake lines, so I was curious if there was just no noticeable difference in a USF car that a pro team with a solid budget would not just have used steel braided brake lines.

I am about to change out the brake lines so that’s why I’m asking.

    Default heat shrink?

Some prep shops put heat shrink tubing over SS braid. I do on my car,

Earls also makes a hose that is coated in PVC. You can get black or clear.

You have to remove some of the outer coating to install ends.

Helps with the abrasive nature of uncoated braided lines.

My stainless hoses I had made by Pegasus and them covered with black heat shrink DaveW spec’s out. Looks kinda like plastic coating once done.

    Hi guys,

Sorry for the delay and not thanking you all.

Thanks for the information, I checked closely and it is exactly what you guys said. It was SS braided with a rubber coat. I’ll research how to do the rubber coating.
