    Default 6' 1" - Will I fit into a standard FM?

Looking to buy a Standard Formula Mazda and run in the SFR SCCA.

Will I fit in the car at 6' 1" 190 pounds?

Are there any local drivers, that would be willing to let me do a "fit check" in the cockpit of their car?

    Thanks for the advice!

    Marcus

    Default Yes

Not local, but you should fit no problem.

You will easily fit. Those cars are well suited to larger drivers.

Hi Marcus. At 6’1” you will easily fit. I’m 6’ and 200 lb’s and fit comfortably. One of our SFR drivers (Stew) is around 6’2” and gets in without the use of a shoe horn.

I’m in Fresno. If you’re ever in the area, you are welcome to come try one on. Give me a call if you have any questions.

Bill. (559) two, four, zero, four, four, nine, eight.

That's good news, seams like I will fit! I will give you a call; It will come through as an Indiana number.

    Thanks,

    Marcus

I see this is a month late for a reply, but FYI
I am 6'2" at 205. I have a 97 FM, #126. I fit fine in the car. A couple things to know. My knees rub against the frame. I got some knee pads to wear under my race suit, problem solved. One another thing. the seat will need to be cut down to allow for head room between the line from the top of the roll bar and the top of the dash. This is checked often at SCCA races. They use a cut broom handle and place it on the roll bar and the top of the body work just over the dash. Make sure to modify your seat, if needed, for this. I use a seat pad and a portion of a seat back to secure me with no problem. As far as safety is concerned, you can watch my recent video of me hitting the wall at COTA, 02/11/2023. Car was damaged but I was fine. Raced the next day.
    Good luck
