Ralph Zuponcic - RIP

We lost a fellow Formula Ford racer December 27, having succumbed to leukemia he was diagnosed with in August of last year. Ralph was a great guy, a friend and talented businessman, musician and racer from Hudson Ohio, just north of Akron.
He started road racing go karts with his faithful friend and crew chief, Mike and entered Formula Fords in the early 2000’s with a 1994 Van Diemen. He later obtained a beautiful 1998 Van Diemen and raced in SCCA events. He even raced a few FRP 1600 events before selling the car and moving to vintage events with a 1968 Alexis Mk14 that was painted in period colors that made it look like a 1960”s F1 car.
He raced it at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix (Pitt Race and Shenley Park) some years ago and numerous SVRA events, with his highlight being the SVRA event at Indy where he not only raced on the road course, but also had an opportunity to drive the full oval at speed in the Alexis. His last event was SVRA at Mid-Ohio this past year.
He will be missed.
