Default RT41 is the best FA

As an engineer in the Formula Atlantic pro series, these were the best cars I ever worked with. The Swifts were only able to beat a RT 41 after the RT 41 was forced to raise the ride height and run a very thick plank under the tub.

This was the easiest car I ever worked with to get a driver comfortable and up to speed in.

Absolutely the best FA ever built.

With a Mazda engine, this would be a beast and might smoke an 016.

Great praise Steve, but the subject was RT4…. Not a 41… however, I owned and drove the RT4, 40, and 41…..they were all great cars….. I always wanted a 2.0 BDG in the RT4 … lol !

What's the status on the Masters Atlantic series in the US? I see no schedule for 2023 on their website and with Anja moving on, I don't have a contact person to reach out to. Do you have any current info?

Tom. I haven’t had any contact with the Master’s group since Austin. I’m afraid I can’t provide any insight.

    Guys,
I have to advise that I have accepted a deposit on the car so I consider it sold unless something happens. Thanks ApexSpeed! Looks like the car will be in good hands, going to NorCal. Thanks to those who inquired and asked for photos and waited patiently - photos which I still have yet to take.....

    - Tony

Hi Tony, dropped you a PM re rear suspension, I have 666 & 667 in Aussie. Both have raised rear cross beams. Can anyone advise on the purpose. I thought it maybe to exhaust airflow from tunnels better? Thanks Peter

Peter, I will defer to Charles Warner on anything like this. I am happy to take any photos of this car for reference if directed to exactly what we would like to look at.

1987 cars (both RT4 & 5) had a raised rear beam and convoluted beam mounts in an effort to provide for improved tunnel outflow which would increase the diffuser effect and provide for more downforce. The 1987 side pods had these larger tunnels. Unfortunately they worked way too well. The downforce was so great that the engines (especially RT5) couldn’t handle it. The fix is to fit 1986 side pods. They fit fine and you can keep the 1987 rear beam set up.
