Default Blackhawk Farms for Assetto Corsa

I have designed Blackhawk Farms for Assetto Corsa using RTB. I think it is fairly accurate. Let me know if you are interested in trying it.

I would be interested in trying this!

I did get a Lidar scan of BHF using Lilski's tutorial. He's the guy that has done Road America, Watkins Glen and a few others. It's one of those things that I need to learn 3d modeling to utilize it. I did get RTB to attempt this, but I wasn't able to figure out how to get this into that. I can provide that file if you want to compare it. It's a very large file though.

I would be very interested in testing the track for you, I plan on racing there in a Spec Miata either April or later in October, practice would help as opposed to going to the track blind.

    Thanks a bunch!

    @Johnfiat

Thank you for doing this work. The track is AMAZING and accurately recreates BHF and captures the fun flowing spirit of circuit very well. if you ever make it to a TNiA event in 2023 look me up (I am part of the TNiA staff usually doing novice coaching and registration)

There is a few spots where there is some missing curbing and without a wall at the end of turn one if you blow that corner and hit the grass you might slide off the map. but none of those things are deal breakers.

    thank you again

Thank you for the feedback. I'm working on the Milwaukee Mile Road Course right now. When I finish the track mesh I'll look at Blackhawk again. The collider walls are easy to add as are the curbs. Again, thank you of the input, it really helps with track design.

perfect timing considering the mile is closed for renovations for most of this summer. Once you're done the pavement will likely be smooth and perfect.

I was about to say. I heard that there was going to be some renovations for this year. Might be best to see what all changes there. In the mean time, I'm not sure if anyone is aware, there is a version of Milwaukee Mile with the road course.

    https://ironmanracingleague.freeforu...88/oval-tracks

I first saw this mesh in rF2. So I believe this is a conversion of that track. Having only been a spectator, it seems to be the best modern version of the track. May just need some updated textures and some updated objects. But the layout looks pretty close.

Thank you for the track link. I never found it when I searched for the track. I am going to put my track on hold and take another look at Blackhawk. Maybe I take a look at Gratten, all through I've never driven the track and will have to work off videos. We'll see what happens.

    Default RF2 track

I've only worked on tracks for Assetto Corsa. I did the track with Race Track Builder, so it should be able to port it over, but i don't know how. If anyone has information on doing it, let me know and I'll give it a try.

I'd love to see this come to rF2. It is the game I do play on the most. I don't have much knowledge on the track side of things. It shouldn't be too difficult. The hard part is just doing the rF2 materials and AI.

It'll probably something I'll take a look at after I get my Atlantics projects complete. But that could still be a few months out yet.

    Hi John,
I've finally gotten back around to putting some time in on the sim and putting some laps down. Overall the layout is great! I love that I'm able to run laps at Blackhawk again at least virtually! Thank you for putting the time you've invested. Pretty fantastic for your first go around with it. I've made some notes if you decide to ever put any more work into Blackhawk. These are in order of importance with 1 having the most weight.

    1) The track has an odd crown to it in the middle of the road causing the cars to buck when driving over an alternating corner (most prevalent in turn 3A, T6, and T7, but also in many of the other corners). It's pretty difficult to drive in a car such as the Radical SR3 XXR.

    2) AI gets jammed up in the pit lane and sometimes run into the wall on the front straight.and cuts corners (may not be a priority to use it for actual races)

    3) Track extensions\flat curbs in the exits of T1, T4, and T7 are missing

    4) Curbing missing on track exit (left) of the sound silo at 6A

    5) More trees on the exit (left) of turn 3A and on the outside of T7 on corner exit

    6) More camber/banking in T5

    7) Tire marks on the pavement

    8) Advertising signs on the left side of the front straight

I've made some changes, I hope the track is better. I still haven't figured out the track cams, the skid marks or the signs on the front strIaght, but I'm working on it. If you would have pictures of the signs it would help. I sent you the files using Send GB. If you have trouble getting them let me.

I live two hours away from Blackhawk Farms in Chicago.
I was there two weeks ago for their track day.
    Going back again on Oct11th.
This IS a really great track in real life!
I would love to try/test the track out on AC.
I have it for rFactor but AC is the move.

Please let me know if I can DL this track for testing?
    This would be so cool!

    Thanks!

John, thanks for sharing the track. I will be able to compare it to real thing this weekend, but so far it works very well and hadn't come across any issue. I'll do a few more laps tonight to be ready for tomorrow and give you another update after weekend .

I'm more of an rF2 guy myself. I've done car conversions but haven't done any track modding. Learning to convert a track has been on my to do list and this BHF track is the perfect candidate. I have a couple rF2 car projects that I'm currently working on that I need to finish before I would be able to take a look. It's on my list, but I would have no idea how long before i would be able to dedicate time to it.

John, I think in an earlier post you had some track updates planned. Any update on those?

I'm planning on being there for the MCSCC Loooong Race. That might give me some motivation to get the track in rF2 sooner rather than later

    Default BHF Tigers Teeth

    Hey John,

I tested a few days back BHF for AC and I really liked it!
It felt very much like the real track.
    Everything looks correct.

    Small suggestions:
Add the infamous Tigers Teeth on turn 1 , outside of 4, and 7.
In real life there are sharp concrete teeth that stick up on the outside of the turn which if you go too far off the track
these teeth will catch your tires and rip your rims apart. Great stuff!
They put these in to prevent folks from driving off the track and damaging the grass.
There is still a runoff strip but the teeth are just to the outside of it.
It makes you watch your speeds and take those turns carefully!

If you added these teeth it would really be something unique to this track.
I don't have any pictures but there are a ton of videos that show turn 1, 4, and 7 maybe they will show the sharks teeth?
Many of the rumble strips at BHF are VERY harsh and will damage your rims.

Are you going to add any Track cams? I hope so! Watching my replays helps me correct my mistakes.

Every time I went to F2 TV view it crashed AC.
Even the above outside the car cam crashed AC.
I can only watch replays in cockpit view.

I really love your work and it is GREAT having BHF on AC!!!
    Thank YOU!
