    Default Death of Mateschitz

No doubt this guy was a real visionary of all sports in his life and will be surely missed. It does bring up the question of the future though not only for Red Bull but the future in general for a lot of racing teams and as a matter of fact all other sports when the leader and owner passes away. We have seen it many times that the leader is the one with the true passion and when they are gone many times things disappear. The heirs have no real interest or passion and are often really only concerned with how much money they can get out of the deal. In Utah, Miller was very passionate about racing and lots of other things and as soon as he was gone the track was sold. The question going forward has to be with many other visionaries like what happens when a guy like Penske retires or passes away, will Penske racing continue or Indy continue? Does the family have that same passion? He is just one of those types of legends with that passion, so what happens in the future? How many of us who race now and are getting older have kids that share our passion for the sport? My guess it is a relatively small percentage!

In the case of Red Bull, I suspect the 'business' is so massive now that it is unlikely he was the only one with a passion for motorsports. Time will tell.
On a much smaller scale, I agree with you; fathers bring sons into racing, and sometimes they don't have the talent, or the passion. Fortunately, I've experienced the positive side of that situation recently.

    Default visionary and beyond

Just raced at Utah Motor sports park and you can see after the visionary passed, the vision clouded up, this track is great but in disrepair, what a shame ,I don't think the China automaker knows what they bought or care, they're just happy to own property next to a U S military

And 51 percent of Red Bull is owned by the Yoovidhya family of Thailand.
