Default Fuel available near track? I like Premium without alcohol.

    What do you think?

Pump gas almost always turns to shellac eventually. AvGas and some racing fuels leave no residue as they slowly vanish from your fuel cell while sitting many months at a time. Varnish is at least as bad for carburetors and injectors as is ethanol for other components.

    yes, thanks for your thoughts.,

I am content to use the premium with no alcohol for misc. use and sitting. Whatever we burn at the track cannot hurt the engine because of the short duration. But might need some extra fuel at nationals. l am of the opinion based on what I read that the Honda will run fine on 87 ...octane but I resist that.

...unless someone convinces me it will produce more power.

There are fewer btu's of heat in 91 octane than 87. 87 without ethanol will make very slightly more power as long as there's no detonation. 91 burns slightly slower to reduce the chance of detonation.

So premium with alcohol will work best if I cannot get it without the alcohol?

    Thanks for the thoughtful answers!

91 octane without ethanol will have more btu's than 91 octane with ethanol. So, slightly more HP using non ethanol 91. 91 with ethanol will work, yes.

    Thanks Dan!

Looks like I will try to carry enough fuel to do the job from my local honey hole.

    Default fuel

There are a fair number of places here in Lincoln with non alky 91--starting with 4 blocks from home, where I fill the Westfield

    Also, there's a Casey's about a mile from the event with n/a 87
