FV Camber Gauge - Remember These?

What is the cl-cl distance between those bolts (that touch the rim)?
We need 15.5" to properly hit the rim of a Vee wheel.

ooooooo...that's the one...BUT...with the top cut off like that, I bet it's not tall enough.
We need the two pin holes that are furthest apart - 15.5" - to properly hit a Vee rim.

The current touchpoints are are just under 13”, used on an FF. The points look like they were added, I think the tool Originally had just the flat machined surface. Adding another 1/4”-28 hole would be easy. They are currently just hex bolts, I would replace them with studs or something like that

Yes I know some people like to use old school tools, but with all the digital levels available for dirt cheap, (from $10) why would anybody choose to use one of the tools shown? Buy a digital level with one decimal spot and you are ready to go. Put it on the axle tubes for the rear, and use it with a piece of tubing against the wheel or tire on the front. Or make a tool to work with the $15 digital level.

Camber and droop are important on a Vee. Spending a few bucks for a good tool is money well spent.

Rice is completely correct. I have used the above unit for over 3 decades and it just hit me that is is a waste of time making the manual adjustment/readings. Just ordered a digital level.

Spoke with Wayne yesterday and he does not have any gauges left. He said he had some miscellaneous parts but that is it. He does not plan to make any . As people pointed out, there are easier and more accurate alternatives.

Also sold by Performance Marketing back in the 1970's - we had an agreement with Mitchell and sold them under our own name. I still have an original sample from Wayne & use it along with Dunlop optical to gauge.

Gentlemen,

Just an FYI Wayne passed away late last year. I was out at his shop helping Mary (Waynes Wife) clean up his shop. Only thing left of the gauges were some spirit levels but the unit should be pretty easy to come up with the pieces. I have one and can possibly make up drawings for it if some one want to make one.

I have one of these. My original from 1986. Still reads spot-on.
When I started this thread, I was searching for a friend who was coming back to FV.
However, he decided to go with a new digital version.
