There are many shops in the northeast that could easily do the work - Powerslide, Stonebridge and GMT come to mind. If your goal is avoidance of the metalastik rotoflex coupling, with its catastrophic failure mode and need to use donut savers, there is a more economical solution that keeps the car eligible across the country as Historic (with CV's it is considered a Club Ford). Giubos (BMW 26117511454, Volvo 1229843 and Febi 04435 - all the same thing) have been used by many for over a decade without any catastrophic failures. They are cheap (Rock Auto, even), easily fitted and much easier to deal with when you need to remove the transmission. If you have good halfshafts for rotoflex joints now and don't need them fabricated, giubos are the solution.
Andrew, thanks they are on the way.
Sometimes I just have to shake my head at our rules-making. We suggest, and sometimes require, bracing to be added because - safety! And then the addition of a non-performance enhancing part that increases - safety - somehow throws the car into a different category.
Here is the write up for their installation by John Mihalich. https://www.lotusclubqueensland.com/ddc/
You will need some spacers and some bushing material which you can get at McMaster Carr and Ace Hardware.
Please make sure you purchase the factory (BMW/Volvo) parts using the supplied part numbers. There are cheap Asian after market Guibos that do not have the internal Kevlar cords.
Cheers, Joe
