    Default Haas collection auction

Spicy stuff. Any guess at what some of this will go for? It looks like a lot of it is as run - complete with engines and electronics.

    I particularly like Nigel's car - https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/h...-t9300/1271190

I've seen that collection in person at the Hass facility here in Lincolnshire. A friend of mine works there in their shock department and gave me a tour, and it's beyond jaw dropping. I'm kinda shocked to see everything for sale, as Carl's wife has been holding down the fort since he passed, and I was given the indication that these cars and items would never be moved. Bummer to see them all for auction.

I count 40 Indy/Champ/CART racecars, all offered at no reserve. Can the vintage/collector market digest such a large lump for decent prices all at once?

No, I would think not. There will be some deals had.

I'm intrigued by the Toyota engine. Single turbo fed off the left bank exhaust only. That has to play hell with the balance of airflow between banks.

There is a third exhaust looking pipe. Perhaps there is another header on the other side we cannot see in this picture.

Basically what I am hearing from inside is that Bernadette realizes that she's getting up there in years (85+) and doesn't want to leave the mess of figuring out what to do with the cars, trophies, art, etc to her kids and grandkids. She would rather manage the sale of all of it while she still can. Sad to see that history dispersed to the 4-corners of the Earth, but I guess that's inevitable with a collection like this.

On the back wall of the shop, they have racks up to the ceiling with Indy Cars stacked up like Hot Wheels cars. It's really astonishing to see.

To kidnap this thread (Sorry), looking at the amazing Sotheby's Hass auction caused me to stumble across the Sotheby's auction for the Gene Ponder Collection. Not race car oriented, but OMG! Cool stuff for any gearhead.

I love that 1954 Jaguar XK 120 Roadster, but am too old to collect stuff just to look at it.

Not sure exactly what this means, but there is a tag saying that it is a replica of the speed record car.
