    Default 2022 SCCA Solo Nationals

2022 Solo Nationals reg now open to all: Solo Nats Rad Theme, Plus Registration Opens

Love the theme; “Back to the 80’s” is a good description of a lot of the chassis’s in CM!

    Hello All,

So they are running Tuesday Wednesday, My bet is we are running in the first 3 run groups because we all have no lights, it's just when we may work.

Is everyone coming this year, or who's going to stay home this year.

    Default Entry Data...

Spanning from 2009 to 2021 (and skipping 2020), the Solo Nationals have been held in Lincoln, NE 12 times. Over that period, CM has averaged 19 entries (with a high of 30 in 2018):

    Year Entry
    2009 21
    2010 16
    2011 14
    2012 21
    2013 20
    2014 17
    2015 19
    2016 26
    2017 21
    2018 30
    2019 16
    2021 11

With Aug 10 being the deadline to avoid late fees, CM entry currently sits at 8. Not sure where we'll end up, but hoping that entry will at least surpass the low of 11 in 2021.

If anybody needs a car for Nationals my 98 VD is available. I would co drive for someone or just be a car owner. I'd like to be there and enjoy the scene.

Anybody with a last minute failure or a long term unfinished project?

I had a fellow who wanted to come and share with me but circumstances have changed and he will not. I have registered to run but without another person to help out I will withdraw.

    Anybody need a ride?

If you have a Facebook account try asking on the SCCA groups there.

I'll see if anyone who co-drove Groot in the past is thinking about going.

I'm fairly sure that's not allowed.

Maybe it's ok after we take National runs?

I think the only rule is you cannot come to grid at last moment with hot tires from TNT course. Or some easily understood variation of that.

The 2022 Supplemental Regs aren't published yet but I found the 2021 Nats Supps. Section 4 is "run procedures". Here's what it says:

    4. RUN PROCEDURES

    1. 4.2. During the days that a car competes, the tires to be used for competition are prohibited from running on the National Test n Tune course.

So it would seem to be clear that while you can't use your Nats tires on the T&T course on your run days, you can take a bunch of practice runs using any other tires.

I am just trying to get some practice time in before I have to compete. It appears the set up for that is very difficult to take advantage of. Here we are two weeks from the end of buying practice time and I cannot get an hour and I see folks with three hours filling up the schedule. What, are they holding them to sell later?

Sorry to sound like a whiner.

This is the first time I have done all this. Both previous nats I had experienced partners in crime who took care of it all.'

Now this practice thing....apparently I have not given enough attention to that.

I have gotten a little behind.

    Default Solo Nationals T&T...

    Tom,

Regarding the Solo Nationals T&T, the Sat/Sun/Mon times ALWAYS fill up quickly; higher demand due to those running T/W as well as other folks who are on-site for the whole week.

That said, there are USUALLY spots available if you walk up. That is, last minute changes/cancellations/etc. If you are going to try the walk up option, I highly recommend that you get there immediately when they open for the day; that's the best bet to securing a spot.

Finally, you have four weekends before Nationals; time to get creative and find some events to run local to your area / have your co-driver(s) attend as well. Yes, less than ideal, but better than nothing.

Speaking of getting creative for seat time, last year two FM drivers from my region stopped on the way out to Lincoln to run a local event in Iowa (i.e. 9/4/21) to shakedown the car they were running.

    Take care,

    Default Beware of Dan Cyr

Two things to know about Dan Cyr.

First, He will beat you in your own car.

Second, He will probably forget to bring his helmet.

Ask me how I know these things.....

Good Luck Dan. It has been a long time. I miss racing with you.

    Hello All,

Even if you could time it perfectly and get to grid before the last car runs on the run group before you from the practice course your tires would be to ambient temperature.
Very funny that this rule had to be written.
