    Default Residual Pan Epoxy Removal

    Gents;

    Closing in on refreshing my chassis, but I have residual epoxy on my bottom rails. Is there a clever method of removing it, or simply a sharp chisel and patience. The adhesive used was one of the two, well touted, usual suspects.

    Low/medium temp on the propane torch, so you don’t burn the paint or powdercoat on the chassis. But hot enough it burns/kills off the epoxy. Open the garage door and wear a respirator so you don’t have to breathe in the awful smell. Get it hot, then use a stiff putty knife and it should come right off.

    I used a wire wheel pretty effectively, but the shards fly far and fast, eye protection a must

    Scotch-brite type rolloc pads. The pads don't last particularly long but they strip old epoxy & paint relatively easily & won't mar the metal like sanding discs will.

    Roloc pads are impressive for removing paint, resin, etc and, depending on grade, don't really touch the metal underneath.

    Do wear good gloves when using them, they are very efficient at removing skin!
