Default New Virus/Scam/Hack for New Accounts

We have been alerted to two different occasions where someone who is registering for ApexSpeed is asked for a CC to complete their account registration here on the forums. This IS NOT FROM APEXSPEED. We will never ask you for that information when registering. The only time you will pay for something here is for a Classified subscription once you are registered, and that is through PayPal and only PayPal.

If you recently registered and are being asked for CC information, you most likely have a virus or some other malware on your computer using forum registrations to steal your CC info.

We have tested our system multiple times and this threat is NOT coming from ApexSpeed. If you registered here and gave someone your CC info, you need to contact your card holder immediately to submit a fraud report.

Again, this is not coming from ApexSpeed, and is likely something in your browser, email account or in your computer operating system.

It looks like the virus is sending new users to allin1-digitalcontent.net. DO NOT put your CC info into this request, it will charge your card for no reason. THIS IS NOT FROM APEXSPEED.COM.

Ok, we figured out the problem. It's not a virus, people are clicking a very specific Google ad banner at the bottom of the registration page, that takes them to this music and video site. This is not the registration button, it's a very deceptive ad banner that we don't have much control over. We're trying to have it removed from our Google Ad system, but I'm not sure we are going to have that capability, as those ads are served by Google.

Don't click this banner to complete your registration. And read everything before randomly putting your CC information into any form sent to you.

To avoid any further issues, we have deactivated Google ad banners from ApexSpeed. If they won't let us control what banners we do not want on our site, then we won't have any at all.

    Carry on.

    Good. Thanks.
Google is far to intrusive in our lives, especially driving us to places we don't want nor need to go to.

Besides, all that we usually "need" can be found from our fellow ApexSpeed friends.

    Carry on.

Folks should realize that those banner ads represented a revenue stream that helped support Apexspeed. The Carters have chosen to forego this income for the good of this community. Something to remember at donation time.

We'll start running ads when ready, partly or mostly for that very reason.
