    Default 100 or 110 Octane

    I have the option of buying either 100 or 110 at my local track. Does it matter which one I use? Is one better than the other for my PFM? I’m not worried about the cost.

    Car is setup to run on 98 unleaded Sunoco GTX 260. Whatever you do make sure you use unleaded. You don’t need 110 and some people run on 93 ethanol free pump gas even.

    Since you can't buy that in Cali, we use 91x4 + 100x1 at the track to approximate the 93 the added edu is set for.
    Maybe run 50-50 and you should be pretty good.

    4 gallons of 91 octane plus 1 gallon of 100 octane mixed in the same fuel jug.

    Sorry for not being clear

    Another option is AvGas. I used to buy 100LL from Santa Paula for my Pinto car. Easy walk on. No security.
    Asked the FBO and they said no problem.

    100LL is very stable, nothing added, and cheaper than race gas. You just need to carry it around.

    Mikey said "Make sure its unleaded". AvGas 100LL is LOW LEAD. I believe all Avgas contains some lead.
    If that is a problem (o2 sensors, etc), nevermind...

    AFAIK the term "low lead" for avgas means low by aviation standards, which is still higher than street fuel

    I think AvGas LL could still coat and cause some issues for the wide band O2 sensors in PFM but the car does not run in closed loop so you could remove the sensors I guess. But then you wouldn’t know your ideal fuel map setting if you want to adjust on track.

    Hello, I have a question on this topic. I’ve been using 100 octane with 1 oz per gallon of 2-stroke oil. This season I’ve seem to have issues with sensors failing (oil pressure, engine temp sensor). Could this be caused from bad fuel mixture or just bad wore out sensors? Thanks for your help!

    Definitely not fuel related
