    Default Rush SR Review

Just wanted to come on here and give a short review on the Rush SR. I searched this forum for any reviews/insights on the car before I ordered it but didn't find any.

I received my Rush SR a few months ago and was able to run a couple track weekends with it at Homestead with NASA. I highly recommend taking it for a test drive if you are interested in buying a race car. I test drove it last year and immediately placed an order for one and proceeded to sell my Ariel Atom SRA. The difference between the SR and Ariel is night and day. The car feels very planted on the track and I feel very comfortable pushing it to it's limits after only one track day. I will post a video here after the Sebring event. Unfortunately my Smarty Cam had a loose cable so the Homestead video I have cuts in and out(I also forgot to enable the overlay).

I am curious as to what sorts of times you were posting at Homestead. Just to put it in perspective, at the recent Homestead Majors a decent P2 time was ~1:22 while an SRF3 was ~1:30.

unfortunately I haven’t been able to get a clean lap in as I was running in HPDE3(not one car was able to keep up/pass me all weekend) but I was getting ~1.38. This is also an ST2 car, not ST1.

    Default Rush at Buttonwillow

Rush SR at Buttonwillow this weekend.
Nicely made car. Still new and somewhat a work in progress.
    Lap times similar to SRF.

Thanks for posting, and glad you’re enjoying it! The price is certainly impressive. Hope it helps more people get into the sport. Racing cars is a cost prohibitive hobby for so many.

For context, aside from the SRA you mention, have you driven or did you consider other race cars? And if you were running in HPDE3, does that mean you’re working on your competition license?

    Default Price

I see that the price has risen from $29,000 in 2020 to $40,000 today. Still, a pretty good price for a new race car.

    From the website: "Pricing: Standard SRF3 Car Kit - $42,500; SRF3 w/ SC Gears & Modular Body Work $45,500; SRF3 w/ SADEV & Modular Body Work $53,500."

You can also get them really easily for 25-35k on the used market. They don't tend to get posted here, but you can find them on the SRF forum and the "junk" racing classifieds site. (I'm not sure what the apexspeed policy is on naming the classifieds competition, but that's where I found mine.)

As cool as the Rush SR appears, I don't really see what the appeal is over a SRF - I'd rather run a dedicated class with a lot of competition than be one of a small handful of cars in a wide open class where it's likely I'm not even racing anyone. Then again, these days that's true in quite a lot of classes. Though, if you're a "track day" person rather than a "racing" person, something that's got a passenger seat or pretends to be a street-legal car makes it a lot easier to get into various track day orgs... I've been rejected from a couple track days in my SRF. Something to consider, though it's not a concern with NASA in particular.

Agreed. Also, there will be parts available for SRFs for a long time into the future. Who knows how long Rush will be around?

I was also disappointed when I talked to the guys at Rush about compliance of their chassis design with safety regulations of various organizations that they couldn't answer my questions. It was clear they designed the car for NASA and track days and didn't target anything beyond that, which is OK, just not what I am looking for.

well, if it's on FB it must be true :-)
Are there any owners here on Apex that can tell us where they are running these 100+ cars in competition?

If only we could get apexspeed members to respond we would know the truth. ;-)

I can verify it's real, although I'm not an unbiased source - I'm an investor in RAW.

There are regularly 10+ car grids now and we expect 20+ at GridLife Laguna.

I think they're a cool car. I hope they do well and are around for a long time. The videos I watched are pretty impressive.

They ran at Laguna Seca recently (10/20/2023). 20 car field.

Fastest lap was 1:34.402. That puts them between SRF3 (lap record 1:37.042) and FF (lap record 1:33.294).

    RaceHero results

Their brochure says they weigh 1130 lbs dry (just the car, no driver).

That was a hell of a lot of fun. I was in the back of that field. Blair did a 1:34.027 in race 2.

We had a car flip 4x at Sonoma after it took a kerb badly. Demolished all four corners, the wheels, some of the body, scraped and dented the hoop. Driver walked away with no injury and was mountain biking the next day. The car was race ready six hours after the accident after some quick rehab from the local dealer and factory support. I saw it race the next weekend at Laguna. Everyone was pretty impressed!
