    Default PFM Running Too Cool

    What is everyone doing to get your PFM up to temperature and keeping it there when it’s cold outside?

    I had a track day at Willow Springs yesterday and it was cold there. I wasn’t able to get the oil temp up to 155* and keep it there until I duct taped across part of the oil radiator air inlet. Even then the temp. would drop below the 155* and the engine wouldn’t rev past 4000 rpm.
    What was odd was, for a couple laps the engine would stumble and I would have to upshift. After a couple laps of doing this, the engine oil temp would still be below 155 and the car would run great and rev to 8500rpm.

    Im new to this, anyone know what’s going on? Any solutions?

    Our PFM's always over-cooled back in the day as well. Cut aluminum sheets of various widths and tape or tywrap them to the face of the radiator. Much more effective than taping over the inlet duct.

    Ok great thx! Any idea why it would “fix itself” after a couple laps and run well?

    Just to confirm, it’s the oil temp that needs to be over 155, correct? The engine water temp doesn’t matter?

    you're way outside the intended operating range..
    start downloading all the tech info and READ IT if you are managing this car on your own.
    a decent mechanic can manage these cars all day long, and I certainly enjoyed mine while maintaining it myself, but you gotta read up. one of the great things about the PFM is you can easily get the info.

    No you want the water Temps above 170 at least
