I'm tempted to start a thread with a list of things I think should be drilled into new students at SCCA driving schools. Things like:

• Never slam on the brakes for a red, black or yellow flag (unless to avoid a collision).
• Both feet in when you spin.
• Know how to be rope-towed and refuse to be hard-attached.

• Both feet in when you spin.
• Know how to be rope-towed and refuse to be hard-attached.

Those were 3 huge points that the Glen Region school did in '08 when I did mine. Especially the difference between a red & black situation. In addition, we had a couple examples thrown at us for a white flag / slow safety vehicle on course. A few of the folks did not handle it as well as others, and almost drove me underneath the ambulance coming onto the short course, but they were promptly "re-educated" in the next classroom session.

• And before you even touch the brakes (unless to avoid crashing) LOOK IN YOUR MIRRORS
• And hold the brake so your car comes to a stop and stays stopped
