    Default Virgin Brake & Clutch System

    My FF has new brake & clutch lines, new master cylinders. It's all dry. Is there any first time technique to follow or should I just use the typical bleeding method as usual? Should I raise the front end, open the bleeders, and let the fluid gravity flow for a while?

    Thanks for the advice.

    Bleed it as normal with the possible exception that you MAY need to do the master separately

    The secret is to get the master cylinders 'working' (meaning very little air and able to pump fluid downstream). Fill the reservoir and crack the union/banjo at the outlet of the MC; after maybe 15 seconds there should be fluid dribbling out of the union; if not undo the bolt another turn and wiggle the banjo. Then bleed just the MC by having the union bolt open when the pedal goes down, tighten it before it comes up. Often just 3-4 such pumps are required.

    Then bleed the rest; I tend to leave the caliper bleeder closed, I pump the MC several times to build pressure (there will be a lot of air in the line), then crack the bleed (and let a good 5 sesonds go by before tightening it; it lets the residual air pressure out; takes a bit).
