    Default Droop limiter interference

    Being new to FV's..... I'm always finding things I don't understand, and today I noticed that my droop limiter is rubbing hard against the coil spring (see pic). It's hitting hard enough to have ground off the paint in the area it hits. I can't see where this is doing me any good, but I need some help with the solution.

    The car is a 2005 Protoform P3.

    I would appreciate any pictures of how a P2 or P3 droop limiter assembly is supposed to look, in the event I don't have the correct assembly...... or any suggestions on how to correct this issue.

    A P3 owner will chime in, but a quick internet search says that is the right droop rod. Looks like the P3 was fully contained inside the bodywork and the P2 had the rubber outside of the rocker - but you need a hole in the bodywork for the longer rod.

    Wrap a thin Teflon sheet around it so it slides rather than rubs.

    Also check for a bent rod or a worn out sleeve where the rod goes through - a little clearance makes the difference.

    Just turn the droop limiter ends down a bit until they clear. Each time that it hits the spring, you will lose some rear grip - maybe not enough to really notice, but the loss is still real.

    If the rod length and push rod lengths are not set right the bar can go over center and bend. Cant tell from the pic if this is what happened to you.

    Thanks for all the great suggestions.
    I do talk with Jonathan regularly and will pick his brain again.
    I checked everything over thoroughly for bending or binding and everything looks straight and true.

    I had an "oh duh" moment and just flipped the droop rod end for end. This put the larger diameter of the droop rod over the small end of the shock where there is no spring to interfere with. Maybe it was intended to be like this all along ?

    I have seen some people run very short springs and that leaves a lot of clearance on one side . Yours looked like a longer spring (IMHO you should always run a long a spring as possible for less stress on each coil...) but if that solves your problem go for it!
