    Default Machining Needed

    Gents;

    I have two AN7-11 bolts that require the heads to be shaved to a thickness of 0.168". A local machine shop has a $100 minimum, and my machinist in Brainerd is 6-8 weeks out.

    Does anyone have a lathe that will be willing to do this? I will pay what ever it takes.

    Is the finish so critical that you can't just do it on a bench grinder?

    Send me 10 bolts and I’l do them all for $60, including return shipping, assuming your tolerance isn’t incredibly fine. You will have to provide a tolerance though. Getting them exactly .168” is a bit more complicated. With a decent tolerance (+/-.002”), I can turn them around in a day.
    Chris Livengood, enjoying underpriced ferrous whizzy bits that I hacked out in my tool shed since 1999.
