    Default Axles

Just wondering what the length of axles people are running with an FC to FB conversion. Specifically Novak if possible. I have 18.75 but I think they are too short for 20mm CV (tripod) joints... And still too short for 26mm CV joints... but its what the car came with...

I don't recall Dan having any problem with the axles when he ran the car. Have you had a problem when you've been on track?

Well, I blew out a cv last year with no indication why... Replaced it and ran fine.... for the rest of the season.

Over the winter I replaced the tripods, housings, and axles with identical parts used prior as a proactive measure for reliability. The plungers were siezed in the hubs and not moving so I fixed that as well.......but assumed the parts previously installed were still ok for measurement/size/etc. (my fault) Then blew a CV out 5 laps into the season again this year causing the diff to shift in the car destroying the carrier bearings. Over the winter I replaced all the rod ends which were bottomed out previously which pushed the suspension out in the rear another 1/4" which didnt help.

Now all is replaced with the recommended snubbers on the axles, etc between Primus, Young, and Taylor....... Upon mockup it shows only 3/4 of the tripod engaged at the diff. So either I need a longer axle or a wider CV. Still trying multiple configurations with all the parts I have accumulated over time to find the best solution.

    Default axles

You could always install a spacer to move the joint out which would be far cheaper than new axles.
