Aluminum Extrusion

Gents;

I have spent waaay too much time searching for:

• Clear anodized
• 6061T6 rectangular tubing;
• 2.5” x 1.0” outside dimensions
• 0.100” walls
• Six (6) lengths of 80”

Any help?

I'm in the aluminum business and I've not come across 1" x 2.5" Aluminum Rec tube in mill finish or anodized. Most likely would have to have that made and you would need to order quite a bit.

But my last quote from SAF almost sent me into cardiac arrest. My thoughts were to go smaller in hopes of a noticeable savings.

I’m also in the metals business and don’t see that size available.
you can get 60 x 25 mm x 3 mm in Europe in 2000mm lengths for about $40/ pc Not sure what shipping would be.

Your best bet is to wait a bit. The metals market involves massive price gouging at the moment, but demand is either about to, or perhaps has already peaked, and prices will, in my estimation, start dropping soon.

You might find something from a small extruder but dropping size will likely mean a die charge that wouldn't be cheap.

BTW, are you related to Bob Iverson? I bought a BSPEC car from him for my kids and thought he lived up your way.

Since you never said what your application was it's hard to recommend alternatives.

That said I've seen solar panel mounting extrusions in a similar size and they weren't too pricey.
