Default Learn Me: New to F500

    Hello,

I am new to the formula 500 world and just firstly wanted to introduce myself to this side of the forum!

I was hoping someone could tell me about the rear axles of these cars. I understand they are solid and not live. I am wondering where I can find replacement axles, sprockets, brakes, gears, etc. More or less, the rear end is the only foreign part of these cars to me.

Maybe would be useful to just know where people get their various spares from..

Thanks for any info or resources!

    -Brandon

Hi Brandon, there are many options and it is highly dependent on the chassis. Most folks that support the particular chassis will be able to supply your parts. May get some better info if you lay out what you need, chain drive or belt drive and the chassis it is for.

What if I told you it was a custom chassis that happens to meet Section 9.4? . Do most of these cars use shifter kart style axles with elastomeric pucks?

The chassis I'm working with is a chain drive, motorcycle engined.

Rebel Gears has a lot of chain sprockets, good place to start. The pucks are rubber, they can be purchased or you can source the rubber and make your own, McMaster Carr has some rubber sheets that I use to make the pucks. The rear axle, should be substantial due to the weight and loading, Most use a 1.25 steel or larger aluminum from micro sprint supplier, I think speedway supplies pre-made splined axles.

For sprockets I use Sprocket Specialists out of Utah. They can do custom sprockets if you need them.
