    Default Suspension Arm/Steering/Pushrod Measuring & Set-Up Tool

    This is a tool I made to simplify setting up suspension, steering and pushrod arm lengths. The posts are stepped at 1/2", 3/8" and 1/4". The left post is fixed in place, and the right one is adjustable and locks into place via the cap screw at the top. The slip fit cones allow for accurate measurements. The spacer and 5/8" sleeve are for the lower outer a-arm 5/8" I.D. spherical bearing. This tool makes it a snap to transfer exactly the settings from one arm to a spare. It is 32" long. I also have a set of 5/16" cones for those sized rod ends.

    If there is enough interest, I would consider making these for sale. Any and all suggestions welcome.

    EJ;

    On one end, you need to incorporate a “slidable T” with a third stepped post. As a-frames have three bearings, this is the only way to make both sides precisely exact. The added value is, when the car is dialed in, you can remove all a-frames, double check corresponding opposite sides for accuracy, then record measurements for repeatability.

    I have matched mine up perfectly setting sides separately (spherical/spindle to inner rod end).

    If you have a given dimension from spherical to the front rod end, and another dimension from spherical to the rear rod end, then the distance from rod end to rod end is what it is. All of the VD set up sheets I have seen only list dimensions from spherical(spindle) to rod end. This would be different if the spherical/spindle end were adjustable, but it is fixed...at least on VD type arms.
