    Default Caldwell project.

I’m considering a Caldwell D9 FULL restoration project to due with my son. I’m putting out a feeler to see how available parts are for this car. It will need many. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
    Cheers

I owned a D9 FF in the late '60s. The upside for you is that most of the production car parts are British Leyland. But for the purpose built parts you are most likely on your own. If you don't have the requisite fabricating skills or someone to help you, this car will be a struggle.

As a new driver to Formula Ford I really struggled to get my D9 up to speed, which I never did. Bottom line the Caldwell D9 FF was not a easy car to drive for me. After that I had a Titan Mk6 and I had the first Zink Z10 (which was built from my crashed Titan). With both of those cars I was able to run at the front end of the pack.

I had several years in FV and could run top 10 in most races before I moved up to FF. And with my later FFs, I was back to the same level in FF.

Charlie Lyford at T-Zero Racing near Seattle have several D-9s they restored for vintage racing. I'm sure they can be of help if needed. And their cars are immaculate.

Funny, but as a novice in the D9B I found it incredibly easy to take to and hold at the limit, was running mid-pack by my third event, qualified ahead of many modern cars in Montreal. The limits, however, were rather low. After three years of development on the Crossle' I finally started getting 90% of what it could do and was a few ticks quicker. Never stopped missing the Caldwell...

    +1 for T-Zero

    Default Bodywork in Portland, used

Just stumbled across this posting on Craig's list.... figure worth passing along. Said SV, looks like would work for D9.
