    Default oil pan pick up

Trying to weld a fine mesh screen [SS] to a oil pick up, After many unsuccessful attempts, screen just melts away I thought about hi temp epoxy. There is some Permatex products high temp 84333 or 84109 that are good above the oils high heat range and should be ok in oil,Any thoughts ?

    Thanks,
    Will

Stainless steel will take hard /silver solder. Several of the mesh screens on pickups I have are fixed this way.

Hard solder is strong enough to hold well, but doesn't need temperatures high enough to risk damage.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll be heading out to the garage today to do a little "testing".

I use a couple of safety wire “stitches”.

JB weld is good to 400 degs, and if your oil gets hotter than that then you have a bigger problem. Or braze or silver solder. Your choice.

Tried many times with the silver solder and the ss mesh would over heat, turn red and not take the silver solder. I had to heat a drop of silver solder then push the mesh into it to get it to hold. I will try brazing rod but am expecting the same result. Permatex high heat epoxy worked well

High heat JB is good continuous at 450, intermittently above 500
