    Default Website with Zink-Citation registry

    https://redroadracing.com/zinkregistry.php
Hit the "Zink-Citation Registry" tab up top.

Since the pandemic has me working from home and isolating, I decided to gather information on probably the second most successful American race car collaboration. I didn't count but I think Swift has more Runoff wins.

Anyway, as a Z16 owner, I had focused on these cars. My 16 year old son coded this website, which I think is looking pretty good so far. Since his main gig is being a junior in high school, it may not get updated as often or as fast as I would like but he's going to do his best.

If you have a Zink and/or Citation you would like to add, send me as much of this info as possible, along with a picture. Eventually, we'll have even more pictures on the "Gallery" page.

This is open to all Zink/Citation cars.

Not a bad looking page, resizes pretty well. Might have him look into Bootstrap as a library, allows great layout tools. An a transition to a database-driven site (.NET or LAMP stack) would make it easier to maintain rather than a hand-coded HTML. Nice to see someone looking to a career in app development. Hope he goes on to get a 4-year degree, you go further than just a 6-month bootcamp-style webpage builder class.

Garey: You might want to consult with Steve to see if he has a current tally of Citation championships. If you include FF, FC, Vee, and Super Vee, I believe the number is well above 20 now.

And the number is above that by a few if you include the various Pro series championships.

Add in the F1000 wins by Brandon Dixon.

    Love seeing this effort, Garey!

I have many photos of these cars, but most are unscanned and won’t be for a long time. I did scan a few, though:
    — Cockpit shot of Gordon Smiley in Steve Lathrop’s Z10, a one-off ride after his own factory-backed Titan Mk9 proved slow, 1975 Runoffs
    — A black-and-white of the first several rows of the 1976 June Sprints, at Turn 13 (Dave Weitzenhof, Tim Evans, and possibly Lathrop in image)
    — Cockpit shot of Gary Passon, 1978 Milwaukee, USAC Mini Indy Series

I did notice two things straight away, from memory — though I’m 99-44/100% certain:
    — Tom Bagley actually won the 1976 Robert Bosch VW Gold Cup (pro series), in a Kent Oil-sponsored Z11
    — Herm Johnson won the 1976 Runoffs in F/SV (Lola T324)

I am also “quite sure” that Harry Ingle won the 1973 Runoffs in a black Zink in F/SV.

    Best with this project!

If you add in the Solo National Championships (which Steve takes seriously) it's another 6.

    Default Website updated

Calvin did a mild update to the website this evening, adding a few cars, moving some pictures around and adding a link to my YouTube channel and to the Zink-Citation book of faces page.

Still looking for more cars to add!

Looks like I've never specified what's needed:
    Quality picture of the car
    Year Made:
    Current Owner:
    Date Acquired:
    Production number:
Most I've seen just use the Roll Bar/Logbook number but some have type of production number like the Z16s
    Ownership details and history:
history from the logbook or other known transfers, any known Runoffs or Regional/Division championships. We've noted that two cars listed were Runoffs winners. You can click on a picture to see how the details are listed.

Also looking for any additional history, brochures or general history for the gallery. Anyone have some original stickers? I might get something from Mr. Lathrop when I get my Z16 uprights.

Another website update was done yesterday, not sure the formatting will stay this way. Feedback appreciated.

Now at 33 cars with a couple more in the que. My son's time is getting scarce as he gets near the robotics competition (he's co-leader and lead programmer) and works on his Senior Thesis, which is still in the running for Samsung's Solve for Tomorrow competition. I got a few lessons yesterday so I should be able to add more when he's off to his party school!

Still trying to expand the Registry.
I have a few cars to add, waiting for my son to get through the next website update. Send me the info listed in the post #20 above.

A friend is working on the artwork for duplications of the original stickers. Hopefully I can get something worked out. Since this is a not-for-profit side gig, I'm doing what I can!

Got some stickers made! Just under 3" wide so perhaps only properly sized for the nose.

    Default Christmas update!

My son's present to me was to add an update capability to the website he built for me! Also added was a placeholder for every model that Steve Lathrop told me about.

I've got a few cars in que at the moment so I will add those but please send in your car info for posterity! This can help us all better document our cars and for the future and might even help in selling them!

Send info in post above this one.

My son and I have been testing and debugging today, should have everything all cleared up now. He actually had a minor infinite loop earlier but we got some Pi and imaginary numbers involved and have brought everything back into finite reality for easier access!

Hi Steve, just letting you know I haven't forgotten about you....

Tonight I added the 52nd car to the Registry, probably 15 cars added since my son added my editing capability last month.
This car was the seventh Z5 out of "hundreds and hundreds" produced.
12 Z10s found, out of an estimated 95 frames built (including several Z11 FSV)
17 Z16s, out of an estimated production of 19
    and more....

Send in your car's info or any updates to the info already listed. What info? This info:
    Quality picture of the car
    Year Made:
    Current Owner:
    Date Acquired:

    Production number:
Most I've seen just use the Roll Bar/Logbook number but some have type of production number like some Z16s. I'm trying to use these numbers to uniquely identify each car.
    Ownership details and history:
history from the logbook or other known transfers, any known Runoffs or Regional/Division championships. We've noted that several cars listed were Runoffs winners. You can click on a picture to see how the details are listed.

Most I've seen just use the Roll Bar/Logbook number but some have type of production number like some Z16s. I'm trying to use these numbers to uniquely identify each car.

Just a note of correction...the "Z18" you just listed is actually a Z18-B. (And it kinda looks exactly like mine from back then...).

    Thanks Glen.
Yeah, I know I'm not specifying Variants of models, it's just too tedious and I'm not sure what the value is. I wanted to group the cars by model and the hope is that by listing the ownership history and specifying the ID (logbook/roll bar stamp or production number), we can confirm a car for posterity!

If there was a way to document what each of the model variants entailed, I could add that you the Gallery on my website!

Not sure he mentioned it, but I referred an Australian Z16 owner to you a couple months ago.

A couple of Z10s in Australia listed, not aware of a Z16 there. Thanks Eric!

    You’re welcome.

My bad, it was Bob Collinson in a Z10.

Since our beloved forum lives on, another bump for more Zink and Citation race cars to be added to this unofficial registry!

Still no fee, still doing it for fun and for free! Over 60 cars, would be cool to hit 100 but that seems like a crazy aspiration unless the FV crowd starts jumping in!
