Default Introduction of a newbie - Chassis #101

    Hi All,
I am new to FE/FE2 having recently bought chassis #101. I already have purchased the FE2 kit and it will be converted in January by Motion Dynamics, My racing experience includes 30 years in FV, 5 in SRF and going on 6 in SRF3. I will also be testing the new SADEV gearbox in my SRF3 during 2021.

However, FE2 is completely new to me and I am expecting a learning curve. Plus the goal is to increase the interest in the class in the Northeast (NER Region) as my car will be the first FE2 campaigned locally and at the Majors level. I already have heard from about 6 SRF drivers who are interested in following my progress, If you know of any FE cars which are garage queens please let me know.

I will also be at the Homestead and Sebring majors in a couple of weeks racing my blue SRF3 #0 with race support from Motion Dynamics.. For those that may be there, I likely will come by and introduce myself.

Welcome to FE2! It’s a great class and a great car!

Make sure to stop by Garage 29 in Sebring and introduce yourself to Eric (#86) and me (#29).

Again welcome and look forward to racing with you!

    Hey Jim,
Well, Kelton beat me to it. We will be at Homestead and Sebring together, God willing. Look forward to meeting you and we will be happy to tell you more about these fun cars and terrific people in the class than you ever wanted to hear.

Or we can just have a beer.

Travel safe - see you there.

    Best regards,
    Eric

Welcome to the club! I will continue to run both FE2 and SRF3 through the years. Very, very different driving experiences. When they are back to back sessions, I have to do a quick mental reset of braking and shift points. Oddly though, it is very simple to make the transition even though they are driven completely differently.

I picked up a "Barn Find" back in November on behalf of Alliance Autosport. Car hadn't been fielded since 2005!

Oh, and welcome, Jim! We'll be at COTA in February, which is a bit far from Massachusetts.

Welcome Jim! The Motion guys will take good care of your FE. My car was a garage queen last year and probably will be most of this year, but hopefully will be out some. If you can talk Keith McDonald into giving up part of his collection, he has a few FEs right now. Rafael Roman has one I think he's ready to part with. All of these cars are at Summit Point, WV. Keith is also happy to rent his cars cheap if anyone wants to try one out at Summit Point.

Are there any updated resources on costs per year to race Fe2 or any of the other open wheel series? We’ve been kicking it around the past couple years and outside of formula vee, no idea which is even the best winged downforce class to run in?

thank you for sending this link. Does anyone know if it’s been updated to reflect 2021/22 costs? Assuming everything has gone up like the rest of the economy?

    thanks!

The page has a 2021 copyright, and an email address for its founder.

I’d guess even if not updated, it’s invaluable for comparing class costs to one another.

Absolutely agree with that! It’s a great template as well that I’m already reformulating for the Vee. Thanks!
