Anyone had experience in converting a PFM to a paddle shift system?
Wondered which system works the best, and approx cost?

    Thanks

No, but I wouldn't bother. The car already has a cut-out via micro switch for the upshift no lift and you can make a mechanical blipped with a long throttle cable and a split collar. Run the cable from the shift lever to the back of the tub inside, around the driver seat and forward to the front then attach to the throttle pedal. This arrangement causes the pedal to move down when you push forward on the gear selector lever. Hole positions at the pedal side bracket allow attachment of a heim joint end on the cable at various pedal heights to adjust the total throw per blip. The split collar on the gear shift lever allows fine tuning as you move it up or down.

If if I recall, I ended up at 34% throttle blip on my old car. Easily adjustable between 20-45% or more. Cost less than $100 ordered throttle cable from Pegasus once I knew how long I needed.

    Default Paddle

    That is an amazing idea.
I don’t have any trouble manually blipping on the downshift, I just wondered what it would cost and what the best system would be if I don’t want to take my hands off the wheel to shift.

To answer Tyler's question, I'm pretty sure Geartronics have a bolt-on Hewland FTR solution, applicable to the PFM/DP02 and other cars using their common chassis & gearbox.

You are right. I spoke with them, it's right at that number plus shipping.

I was also made aware of MME Motorsport, KMP Drive Train Solutions and Pro-Shift.

The MME system looks interesting, looks to be a Slovenian company and the system sells for around $2500 + VAT + shipping. Service might be an issue there.

i have a complete flatshifter kit (Max + Expert + Paddles) that I bought a few years ago to covert my radical to paddles. Never got around to installing it and was planning on listing it for sale here in a few days. PM if interested.

    Default Flatshifter

I reached out to the company, have heard no reply.
    Are they still in business?
Seems like these systems are for motorcycle powered cars?

I can't speak to the Slovenian company, but Geartronics have been around for years, and work on everything from motorcycle engine powered cars to Sadev and Hewland F3-style 'boxes, to Indycar, Prototype, and F1 cars...virtually ANY gearbox with a ratcheting sequential shifter. Check out their photos here: http://www.geartronics.co.uk/gallery.htm

the flatshifter uses a push/pull actuator solenoid so it should work for any sequential transmission

I have the Geartronics system on my PFM. Hands down the best thing you can do for this car! Total game changer and makes the PFM the absolute best bang for your money in open wheel racing. I raced an entire season last year with zero issues. Installed it myself in about 30 hours +/-. Total cost around $9500 with everything needed to install. -Kevin

    Default Paddle shift for PFM

I would install a paddle shift system but 9500 is too much. I have two PFM's both nice cars in good shape. I would probably have to sell one car to afford the geartronics. By the way the P. Ravaris car for sale is great car. He was the fastest FA last weekend in Texas.
