Is it common for Vee's to run drop spindles or is it more typical for guys to run stock spindles and lower the height/adjust with shims?

From the GCR:...no other modification of the wheel spindle is permitted.
Further: non VW replacement spindles shall maintain the same geometric relationship between the spindle and the king pin bore and boss.

For adjusting ride height, beam 'adjusters' are now allowed in SCCA FV... If you are, perhaps, planning to do VINTAGE racing, the various groups have different rules, but in the early days, ride height was adjusted by BENDING the spring packs inside the beam... using LONG bars and the 'turkey leg' itself to perform that function. I don't have it at my fingertips right now, but there IS a youtube video that shows someone performing that 'adjustment' on a formula vee .. but I can't seem to find it right now.
If you use a ride height adjuster, Mike Hinkle has made a youtube video of 'how to' that you might find informative.
