    Default Ryder cup/Runoffs

    Good Morning,

So i see that the Ryder Cup is postponed until 2021 , and This was the reason why the Runoff's were pushed back to October, So should we see a movement from SCCA to move the Runoffs back to September ?

lets see what everyone has to say ..... GO

October in Wisconsin is a real risky idea. However, I would assume it is pretty close to impossible to find a week in September that is not already booked by someone else.

While I can probably accommodate the change personally, surely we do not think it is realistic to expect the 10,000 plus people (racers, crew, officials, volunteers, spectators) to be able to change their plans at this date? Whether in the last week in September, or first in October, the event will not be a place for soft people. Fortunately, it is a spectacular place any time of year.

Road America is beautiful any time of year, but racing in the snow is not spectacular. Please move it to September!

I doubt there's any way it can be moved. This is a long lead logistics exercise, not something that can be changed within the remaining time.

    Cue the Debbie Downer sound.....

Did anyone actually think there was a chance of getting the date moved? Sometimes it's just fun to dream.

Booked solid with low key events that could easily be shifted much like the SCCA race in July was moved for the IndyCar weekend.

It's more a matter of the logistics of such a big change in such short time.

Low key or not, those groups have contracts with the track. Unless they voluntarily give up the spot, and RA agrees to let them out of the K, it's done.

Do expect better weather by moving the Runoffs up a few weeks? It’s Wisconsin! The weather becomes the same from early September thru May. Expect 39 degrees and be pleasantly surprised when it reaches 70 degrees.

That ASSUMES they have control over everything. In this case, not so much.

Also be aware that Autobahn and Gateway are both hosting Runoffs qualifying races on September 19-20. I’m planning to go to one of them.
