    Default June Sprints 2020

How is the event functioning.... social distancing, masks, etc.? The paddock must be crowded.

    Wasn't really that crowded.

Not a lot of masks, even indoors; was a surprise coming from Michigan. Also seemed to get more relaxed as the weekend went on (vs. at Registration Thursday evening). Spectators especially, didn't really seem to worry about masks or distancing...

I was mostly keeping my distance by virtue of spending all my time working on the Vee I was crewing solo for...

Well, we certainly were not practicing Social Distancing on the track. I will try and post some videos later today of Sunday's race. It was a old time, classic June Sprints FV battle and a heck of a lot of fun!

Yeah, this really isn't a thing in Wisconsin anymore. People are going about things like nothing happened.

Yep. Breaks my heart that we care so little about others.

If we did this right, the virus would have nowhere to go. The worst of it is the disinterest in born in political division. We’re all Americans.

    That’s good to hear!

We were likely the only fans at a Thunderhill vintage race in early May, 2016. Go to know Ethan a little, really nice guy!

While Wisconsin as a state is handling COVID well, most of the attendees were not from Wisconsin. Kind of a flaw in our control strategies.

I was a bit surprised at how "normal" the event felt, and equally surprised at how little protection was being used. RA Staff and SCCA volunteers did a great job being diligent with face masks and distancing, but I felt that us racers were a bit too relaxed on our efforts. I'm guilty too. Quite often I left my paddock space without a face mask - mainly out of habit. I did wear one when going to the concession stand, but I was certainly in the minority.

I had to laugh a bit though that through all the protections RA had in place, they didn't shut off the air dryers in the bathrooms. Talk about a sure fire way to spread germs.....

I never saw a facemask on a "local" in any restaurant, gas station, convenience store or such. Zero!

I believe it’s human nature to desperately seek normalcy during a crisis like this. The longer and/or more severe the crisis, the greater the desperation.

With that though, the greater the odds of error. Such as we’ll see by the end of July.

Not to mention they’re horrible on our ears.

Plus I personally refuse to waste energy on such things.
