    Default Block Water Passages Cleaning

    Gents;

    Art Smith prepared, an as usual, elegant treatise on oiling and cooling of the Kent block. MAGNIFICENT in every respect, if I may say.

    One of the major points he emphasized was the THOROUGH cleaning of the water jackets. My research reveals everything from muriatic acid to 50% Dawn dish soap, 50% diesel fuel, and a pinch of cayenne pepper (eff’in drag racers).

    What say you?

    Muriatic acid will definitely do the trick. Be careful and wear protective equipment - i.e. rubber gloves, eye protection and breathing apparatus (not just a funky mask but a filtered unit).

    Default Pool and Spa Rust and Scale remover

    I used this with good success, same considerations where protective gear, block off as many passages as possible, fill, slosh around, wait a bit and rinse thoroughly.

    Google "electrolytic rust removal". It works very well.
