Default How to sim race with us! 2020 Edition

Can you run it? What are your PC specs? https://www.apexspeed.com/forums/sho...benchmark-test

Do you own it? Need to purchase rFactor2 on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/365960/rFactor_2/

The 2017 post was when we ran the 2016 USF2000 (VanDiemen) car, but for some reason a physics "update" they did turned it to trash and handles like a drift car for some reason. We now run the 2017 USF2000 (Tatuus) car and it is awesome.

You may want to join the Facebook group I created. It has a little more traffic since not everyone who is sim racing is going to ApexSpeed.com.

As for the race events, I post every week the track and where to get it as well as the car we're racing. If you "subscribe" to the track and car in Steam, you will automatically get the track and any updates every time you run rFactor2. They are essentially linked to your profile through Steam. Pretty easy! Once you have your PC running rF2 and you have the track and car downloaded and installed, you should be ready to join the ApexSpeed server. When on the rFactor2 dashboard, you'll see the multiplayer image listed below.

Select it, and make sure you have the "WAN" option selected (as opposed to Favorites or LAN) and search for "ApexSpeed". Once found, you can double click on it and enter the password "rfactor2" without quotes. Then you will load into the server and be able to run some laps with the rest of us!

Most of us also sign into Discord (https://discordapp.com/) as well for instant messaging and voice chat. If you're not familiar with it, think of it as Skype for gamers. It allows us to bench race, assist others to troubleshoot, go over setups, and talk smack... :-) It's HIGHLY recommended to bind a steering wheel key to "Push to talk" so that everyone else in the room doesn't hear you swear, nose whistle, scream at the kids, etc... The direct link to the ApexSpeed sim racing room is here: https://discord.gg/PnYjbmh

I have a leaderboard and race results dashboard on the server as well so you can see all of the details of every session run> http://apexspeed.servegame.com:58000/

I have the server online all week for people to practice and then race days are Tuesday evenings with official practice starting at 7pm CDT and Qualifying starting at 8pm. Anything else I may have forgotten, please let me know or ask in the Facebook or Discord room. Come on out and play!
