Rummaging around other people's photos, this is from a 1983 Mid-Ohio race. Never saw a windscreen that long!

Shades of Chaparall... Hall tried something similar but his driver Surtees talked him into raising the seat so he could poke his head out into the air to see well.

    Resembles a Star ST-1.

    F. No part of the frame or bodywork shall project beyond a plane connecting the vertical centerline of the front and rear tires.

It's not very aerodynamic, but it's legal.

Clearly he is having trouble seeing where he is going. Needs skinnier knees.

That would be arguable. The compromises between frontal area, surface area, weight, vision, body shape, wheel fairings, etc have always been a hot topic in FV, but certainly in that era. The designer/builder was trying to gain an aero advantage.

    Default Back in the Day

One of my first races at War Bonnet in late 60's, a guy showed up with a DSR that had complete body in clear acrylic... neat to watch him work.. Made the Tulsa World coverage of the racing (another back in the day feature, not seen today...) think he also ran at Lake Garnett.
