I'm going to try and come hang out and meet folks. Would be available to help a team also (no charge) as long as I have the time to get there.
My schedule precludes me from seeing the Sebring event which is a lot closer!
I'm wanting to meet the SVRA crowd and work towards getting into running my Lola T91/50 with the organization.

    v/r,
    Mike

    Mike,
Last year was my first with SVRA and the amount of entries meant Group 2 (Vintage open wheel on treaded tires) and Group 9 (wings and slicks) ran together. There was at least one guy in a Group 9 car that needed more track time before trying to race the thing! I'm sure you'd do great. Looks like the same grouping is currently planned for this year.

Let me know if you need me to add you as a crew.

My wife and I will be there. I'm interested in adding a Vintage car to the stable; may come ask some questions to whoever will talk with me.

Always fun to watch TA while we're there!

Gary: I'll be there with the March running in Group 9. I'll be running the Crossle the following weekend with VRG at VIR. Will I see you there as well?

As expensive as last year was, I'm staying pretty local this year and back-to-backs aren't really feasable for me. Between SVRA, SCCA and FRP/RCFF, I'll be at Road Atlanta, Barber and Indy for perhaps 8 weekends!

I'm considering it, how was it running with very fast winged cars in a vintage FF?

I'm having fun with it. It's not disimilar to SCCA, running wing&things all together. OTOH, I felt a lot better with Jim Downing passing me in an appropriate place in his Prototype in SCCA (Barber, Road Atlanta) than the FB driver that passed me in the grass on the back straight at Road Atlanta. Mr. Downing was professional and it was no problem. The FB driver at least apologized and admitted he made a bonehead decision to pass me on the right rather than the left but he "was already committed." That said, there are also some F3/Indy Lights/IndyCar drivers who are in over their heads in Vintage. There was one guy who got both Practice and Qually blackflagged because he stalled his car at RdAtl, finally finished a race but not before taking out his front wing.

Just like any grouping, gotta pay attention to the mirrors and track time is mostly pain free.

Garey you need to come to Mosport if you haven't run there before. With the USD vs CDN $ we almost pay you to come....

HAHAHA!!!! Should I wait for the check to arrive?

I would love to sometime but that really is a long drive! The only two times I crossed into Canada in a car, the US border patrol gave me grief getting back!

Food for thought, thanks. I've run in FV/FC groupings (both as FV and FC) and as you said, as long as everyone pays attention to the mirrors its fine. I wish SVRA showed entries online in real time, its an expensive event and a 1000 miles tow for me; a bit disappointing if only a few cars show up.

Thanks Garey. Rest assured, I won't be the one needing more track time before racing the thing! My progression to F3000 has been slow and methodical, through FE and FA (PFM) first and I will get a fair amount of seat time in the Lola before I go racing with it. Possibly an oxy-moron, but I'm a very 'patient' racer. But I won't be the slowest guy either

Will keep you posted if I am able to come up to Road Atlanta.

You nailed my reason for posting this! If we know who's going, it might encourage more to go and with enough entries, Group 2 wouldn't have to be combined with Group 9!

    Default Svra

I'll be there in a Lola S2, also planning Mosport and the Glen with SVRA.
