    Default DOWNLOADS Section?

We are starting to get some members into the 3D Printing activity. Producing a lot of good "stuff" that they could share with other members. I'd think it might be best to keep it a "not-for-profit" deal. Other websites have a similar section - and I'd think it best to keep items related to the racing world - no mickey mouse ears, etc.

I expect they''d want to share 3d codes (stl/g-code/etc) and those supporting math channels and various configuration files for data systems. By sharing ApexSpeed - specific the good work won't might get lost/buried in other CAD/CAM sites (GrabCAD/Thinkverse/etc).

Could also be a place to store specific pdfs, ppts, etc. and make them available to Apexspeed-only members only. I am not (yet) a 3D printer-guy, but do have a homemade cnc. There are several members better versed in the 3d print world - I'm just proposing a means to share.

    Cheers - Jim.
When I used to fly Phantoms, I was called an AVIATOR.
Now I race cars. So, am I now called a PAVIATOR?

There’s actually a lot of data folks might share. Tech data, manuals, drawings, setups, programs, models...

I’d certainly contribute to a library.

It's definitely something we would consider. Can you guys post a list of common shareable file formats and extensions that would potentially need to be uploaded and stored?

.STL is a common 3D print file type
    .xlsx Excel files
    .pdf obviously

    I;d add:
    .PPT
    .doc

Here is a screen grab form VetteMod that has been using this idea (let no good idea go uncopied!):

You can note it is not so "burdensome," RE- number of files per category There is an explicit ROE and process:

We will probably not allow Microsoft files like .PPT and .DOC for security reasons—not a good idea on forums and not on our server. Way too much risk with unknown uploads. PDFs and STLs are more likely.

We will look into options, though.
