    I did one on a Zetec F2000. It was an alternator from garden tractor and was driven off the front of the water pump with a small V belt. It has work for a decade without issue. The trick is to get the RPM right for the alternator you choose. The regulator was one that was made for the particular alternator. I believe the one I used came from my John Deere dealer.

    This is assuming that you are talking about something for a race car.

    That is likely to be my car - it is a Kubota "dynamo."

    Default Primus

    Brad at Primus racing has mounts for transaxle and pulleys that run off the axle if you want to go that route. I think it uses a small kabota alternator.
