    Default Current fire bottle options

What are the current opinions on fire systems for small open wheel cars?

I'm looking for the smallest and lightest system I can get without sacrificing effectiveness.

I thought in recent years there has been some new materials and systems that have come out that were compact and light, yet all I can find is the AFFF/Novec systems, which all seem to be about 10lbs complete, 6" diameter, 12" long. There must be some systems out there more compact then this, no? What do the F1 and Indycar guys use?

Just talked to SPA at PRI about this. They have multiple small bottles to match the original Formula Halon systems in size.

I went with a Safecraft system, was able to fit it where the old bottle was with only minor tweaks to the mounting.

The 2484 electric overall length actually measures at about 9 7/8".

Thank you all for the replies.

It seems like most are about the same size, +/- an inch or so.

For some reason I was thinking there were some new systems that we're really compact and light, but after more looking it does not seem like it. I must have confused the switch from Halon to the newer materials as a significant size / weight improvement.

As with the Freon replacement, the Halon substitutes, now nearly as good, never hoped to be an improvement.
