    Default New 1997 DFV

A friend of mine has a dyno time Cosworth DFV. He purchased the engine about twenty years ago from Granatelli’s Indy car operation for a land speed project. My question is there a market for these and is there interest here or is there a better place for him to sell this engine.

    Thank you
    Tom

Is it a turbo DFX or fuel injected DFV?

    Default Dfv

It is an Indy/CART turbo style engine. It is complete less turbos and electronics. The paperwork with the engine says DFV on it but it’s not mine and I’m clearly not an expert. Just trying to help a buddy out.

    Thank you

Its a DFX or DFS if its turbo motor
they share the same castings for DFV head block but are 2.65 litre not 3 litre
heads are ported and valve sizing different to go with the Methanol turbo kit

DFV uses petrol and mechanic and electronic fuel injection

That motor is only of use to an Indycar owner

    Default If it's a DFX

Probably on Race-Cars.com or even ebay would be the logical place to advertise that you have one or broker it through one of the restoration shops. There is a market albeit small one for Indy car engines The Cosworth DFX was used from late 70's thru late 80's. Then the Cosworth DFS was used and then came the Ilmor Chevys. There are a few engine shops that specialize in these engines, also a possible sales outlet.
