    Default Lola T540 For Sale

Very nice car currently set up for vintage racing. I have run in the FFCS series for the past four years.
    Chassis number HU32
SCCA and RMVR logbooks (needs fuel test port to be SCCA legal)
Extended hoop (done by Fab-Tech) to allow tall driver; I am 6'1" and there's a lot of room above me. Frame powder coated at that time.
Fresh and strong Farley engine, one of the last ones he built with almost everything new. Dyno'd at 116.8 HP. Steel head. Tilton starter. Hy-Tech exhaust, Mecca oil filter, mostly new oil hoses. Pertronix, spare pertronix units, spare dizzy, spare starters, ignition wires, coils, etc. 10.5 hours since rebuild. Spare bare steel head, original exhaust systems
Mk9 transmission, total of 16 gear sets and two dog rings. Shifts fine. Two Dogg axles. New master and slave cylinders 2019. Spare clutch/parts.
Koni double adjustable shocks, rebuilt by Truesports for 2018 season. Many sets of spare springs, some spare wishbones, spare upright, swaybar. LD19 calipers front and rear; fronts rebuild by Averill for 2019 season.
Spare body in good shape, two wide noses and one narrow nose which need some light work and paint. Spare fasteners, windscreen, etc. Spare snorkel (needs repair). Supports and sheet metal to convert from wide to narrow nose. Spare used metal side panels.
Fuel cell and foam replaced 2016; firewall replaced at that time with a solid one. Old leaky fuel cell included if you want a template to restore as original
Sabelt harness which expires 2022; mounts moved to allow proper fitment of tall driver with HANS. Stewart Warner mechanical gauges with new (2019)SW electric tachometer. Fire system replaced 2018. New battery 2019. Seat is a Kirkey modified to fit; it is very comfortable but can be removed if more space needed. Original seat also included.
3 sets of Revolution wheels and two extra wheels (14 total). One set of cycled out Hoosier VFF tires good for practice, one set of VFF's with only 4 heat cycles. One set of Hoosier slicks that should be discarded. Extra wheel bolts and studs.
Aluminum radiator and spare original radiator. Spare used side coolant pipes.
Misc. spare parts, custom tools. Custom toe bars and rack lock made by Momentum Motorsports.

Shown in photos but not included are transponder, LED shift lights, Solo mount, camera mount.
Literally ready to race and I am entered at Watkins Glen in October if it doesn't sell before then.
    Located in NE Connecticut.

    Default Pedals?

I'm not a buyer but I pour over ads to try to learn things. My eyes and mind aren't computing the pedal setup. I first thought there was an extra pedal for left foot braking but it looks like there are four petals, one throttle and three with clevis and push rods. What is up?

When I bought the car it was set up for left foot braking, with essentially the stock clutch pedal welded to the brake pedal and then a separate clutch pedal. I valued a dead pedal over left foot braking, so converted it back to the stock setup. The pedal on the extreme left is locked in position and a very comfortable dead for the left foot.

Hmm, think of the possibilities..you'd always have a car ready to go, or you could bring both to the track instead of spare parts, or....

I still have it. Over the winter the steering rack was rebuilt by Keith Averill, and I've just finished prepping it for the season. I've also moved to SC, near Greenville.

Default Lots of history in this 540

The car has some serious history for anyone thinking of vintage value.
This is the Atwell car that sat on pole at the 1979 Runoffs and was DQ'ed for non compliant head.
It was raced for years by the late Bob Roemer who penned a regular column for the BMW magazine "Roundel"
I was fortunate enough to drive it at the now infamous FF 40th at Road America where the car was 1 of 12 cars under the race record (seriously fast weekend). The photo is from one of the Carters at the 40th.
If this car has the same Farley that was in it at the 40th, it is HUGE.
Buy the package, throw away the car and keep the engine, it's that good!

Rob, Good luck with the sale

    Thanks, Bill!

It has a much newer Farley, one of the last he built before retiring and, at least according to him, better than the one it replaced. Its got about 10 hours on it.

Just a suggestion.......take it to Chuck Cecil in Colombia, SC and have him return the roll bar to the original config. He is an excellent fabricator and will do it for a very reasonable amount. Do you have the original roll bar with the SCCA stamp?

I took a deposit on it today, Bill. It was sold to a tall driver, like myself.
