Agreed. But the one I quoted requires the best lock picker to open it.

Default It's not just the locks.....

It's also the latches. My featherlite trailer has a pair of aluminum flat bar latches that are easy enough to cut through and open without bolt cutters.

So I drilled 5/16" holes through both the side rails of the door and opening frame. Then slipped the quick release pin through. My pins are 3-1/2" long. I have to climb over the car to install or remove the pins, but the door can't be opened even if the locks are cut.

That's a little bit similar to my trailer.

The rear door is "locked" from the inside with a couple of 4" long 1/4" bolts that just drop through tabs on the door and into the frame of the trailer. You have to clamber over the car to unlock the rear door.

What is the security for the side door?

There is no side door... ...but there is a front door closed with a laughable little built-in deadbolt.

Only it's a very small door.

Mine as well, but it does have a deadbolt with a steel strikeplate bolted behind the door frame. Someone would have to destroy the door, or use an electric shear to cut the aluminum wall panels....

    Default brake pads

On Sunday i started hearing a squeak which sounded like a pad down to the metal, to my ear. If that is what I have will I find metal in the dust inside the wheel?

No matter what the noise is, it’s worth removing the wheels and taking a look.
If you use Hawk Blacks I have LD19 and LD20 pads available cheap.

I pulled the rf and examined. The rotor is a bit thin but pads are pretty good. There is more wear on the outside of the rotor. I am running whatever came on the car so I don't know what they are. I can look at the bill of sale. I suspect I have 20s front and rear. They are willwood practically brand new.

Order rotors now! Primus and a Pegasus had none in stock. It took weeks for me to get front rotors.

(how thin? Front ld20 rotors start out at .375”, rear ld19 at .250”)

I'll have to measure. One side of the rotor is worn more than the other.

I attempted to install the new rotors but the six securing screws heads are too big to get out. l Does the hub need to come out to get them in?

Snug them back into place, then remove one at a time in the caliper void/space.

Unfortunately the void under the caliper is the same as all the others. Still no go. It looks like I Have to get down in the hub and remove the four nuts and pull the hub to get at it.

sounds more like the stock uprights. Big fat & heavy. The newer billet upright made by Fast Forward and sold by Primus have plenty of room to install the rotor bolts.

My ‘94 has original uprights, with plenty of room at the front and back to remove rotor bolts.

My car seems to have some 97,98 and 99 parts. I believe it was originally a (continental?) with front and rear wings.

Maybe the rotors are attached with incorrect bolts with larger diameter heads....?

I got the right bolts today.....also learned about the block that had to be removed to get all the stuff in through the caliper space. Looks like maybe it is a one inch spacer?

So the new bolts seem fine and I go to install the new rotor and find the bolt circle is a quarter inch different so I won't be able to run tomorrow...drat!

So now it seems there are no right side rotors available and all other style rotors are not in stock at present. Apparently the rotors are directional. I am wondering with the lower speeds at autocross running two left side rotors will matter?

I am the one that has these rotors made, and they are not directional for operation only looks. They originally when we started to produce them, came only in one direction. Unfortunately at we are facing machine time and raw material delays in our current production. Hopefully that will be rectified soon.

I struggled yesterday getting hub back on on the left front. Just finished it. Today am planning to install the new primus rotors. These little bolts to hold it on look really tiny. They are right? I took them off the car so they should work.

Probably right, 5/16” wrench for jet nut? That’s what mine has, all the load is in sheer in the larger section of bolt.

I got all the new rotors, pads and such installed on the front, then decided I should change the pads on back. Ordered them, got them and installed them this morning. All seems fine. The rotors spin freely and are loose enough to rattle a bit. I plan to race at Grissom on Sunday.

Thnaks for all the positive help!

I'm heading out to get a new infrared temp guage.

The brakes work grandly but I still got a small squeek in one of my braking zones.

Am planning to run this weekend. Also have a co driver for Nationals now, so I need to get registered for that.

    Default at nationals now.

Got in all the runs we wanted yesterday. Ben Menendez came by and chatted a bit. He noticed I am not running a sway bar on the rear right away.

Reid found it would push a bit . We reduced air pressure until it became neutral. We will run the test and tune and the class today to get the drivers more seat time. It was a lovely morning and evening. After lunch it got very hot. we spotted some coolant on the ground at one point and looked all over for a leak, finally deciding it must have been somebody else.

The car was flawless. I added something over a gallon of fuel at the end of the day. The efficiency of the Honda is impressive.

    Default New wheels

Just thought I would update my activity. I sold the Van Dieman to Texas and now have a Honda s2000. I like it so far and am getting some new shocks and perhaps tires for it. I have very much enjoyed my time here at Apexspeed. It is a cozy community with a lot of very experienced people.

I miss the Van Dieman but with the s2k I can haul a grandchild.

    See you on the track!
