Default Shipping Car From UK to USA?

    Hi everyone,

My partner and I are close to commissioning a new formula car build from a builder in the UK specializing in hillclimb cars.

What we are wondering if anybody has any experience arranging a container to ship from the UK to USA and can provide any feedback or recommendations on either a transport company, the customs import process, or any other "gotchas"?

    Many thanks,
    Mark and Phil

Jay Bullock at Silver Tiger Logistics. Jay and his staff will take care of everything: shipment, customs, insurance, delivery, etc. I have had him bring several cars for clients into the US in the past 3 years. Not a single hiccup, all cars have arrived without issue. I have one in the process of coming from Australia right now. STL is the logistics team that handles the shipment for all the Masters F1 cars which spend almost as much time traveling around the globe as they do at any racetrack. They are the first and only call I make when a car needs to be shipped into the US.

Shoot me an email if you'd like his contact information.

    Default research a customs broker

I would get a customs broker who has shipped cars... they can help shipper "write" the bill of laden in a way that is beneficial to you. I shipped a full sportsracer body over as well as a lot of parts and something as simple as "bearings" were written in the description and the US wanted to attach a lot of fees based on total contents $ figure in an area to target our anti bearing dumping law. I used a customs broker only after I had items shipped, but he told me if I would of contacted him ahead of time, he would of told me how the shipper should of listed the items.

Especially if it's a fresh engine, do not forget the preservative oil in the cylinders.

Hi, can recommend Silver Tiger Logistics or

    www.kingstownshipping.co.uk

used them both and all handled efficiently.

You end up tracking the container every day whilst it makes it's progress round every port and eventually across the big pond.
