Default LED strip lights for shift light???

Has anyone used the tape style LED strip lights connected to a sensor for shift lights? There are a zillion options on amazon! I have a Stack ST400 that has an output for a shift light that I plan to try. They won't be sequential, but I plan on using a short strip with three lights to catch my attention to shift. Is there a better quality brand to use? Is there any other sensor one could use to switch the lights on at a certain rpm?
    Thanks Wes

Keep us posted. I have same dash and want to do the same thing.

Note: I kinda remember the manual specifying something about polarity and/or amperage for that connection. Don’t want to hook something up and fry the dash.

These guys used to sell a pretty simple little board:

Unfortunately, it's now out of stock, and there newer models are far more complex...

I installed an LED strip light on my 85 Van Dieman FF. Think I paid $5.00 for it on eBay.
I have an Intellitronix digital tach. And it has an output to ground a circuit at a RPM that you program in. I mounted it above the steering wheel on the instrument panel just below the windscreen.
The great thing about it is you can't miss seeing it.
Especially those times when you don't want to glance your vision away to focus on the tach. It lights up in your peripheral vision.
I have it set 600 RPM below my redline. And I think it's great.

    Hello Wes,

    Two possibilities.

    1. Ask my brother Tim.

    2. Ask Ellen at Veracity Racing Data. https://veracitydata.com/products/stack-products/

See you at RA for the 50th with your Merlyn?

    Best regards,
