I have a Race Parts combination mechanical oil pressure and oil temperature gauge. Recently noticed the needle was straight up at 80 lbs.
It seems like I've heard of this problem before. I was able to pull the needle towards zero with a magnet, but it instantly sprang back to 80. I shot a blast of air into the hose and the needle would rise above 80, so there is some working mechanism in there. I don't know if my blast of air was 10 lbs or 90, though.
Just wondering if it is worth fooling with, or if it's time to replace it. Luckily I have an oil pressure sensor for the dash (with alarms), so it's not critical. Just nice to have.
Thank you.
